Martin Custom 00-28 12-Fret

The Martin Custom 00-28 12-Fret is an exceptional Custom Shop guitar built in the traditional style, combining the compact 00 body shape with a classic slotted headstock. This instrument was crafted in 2007, and its 12-fret design is clearly inspired by historic Martin guitars.

Sonically, the guitar impresses with an open, balanced tone rich in overtones. Thanks to the neck-to-body transition at the 12th fret, the bridge is positioned further toward the center of the top. As a result, the compact 00 produces an astonishingly full and voluminous tone with beautiful depth, quick response, and excellent string separation. The combination of Sitka spruce and East Indian rosewood ensures a very well-rounded balance between warmth, clarity, and overtones.

A distinctive feature of this custom configuration is the generous nut width of 47.6 mm, combined with a string spacing of 58.7 mm at the bridge. This gives the guitar plenty of room for both the fretting and strumming hands, making it particularly appealing to fingerstyle players. Despite the generous neck width, the low-profile neck shape ensures a pleasant and comfortable playing experience.

Visually, too, this Martin Custom 00-28, with its slotted headstock and traditional Style 28 features, has a beautiful vintage character. The combination of a historically inspired 12-fret design and the unusually generous neck and string dimensions makes it an interesting custom model that is rarely found in this configuration.

It’s in very good condition. The guitar has been very well cared for and shows only minimal signs of wear. The frets are also in very good condition. It plays exceptionally well.

We carefully set up every guitar. We adjust the neck radius and string action to ensure that the guitar plays cleanly, comfortably, and without buzzing across the entire fretboard.

The string action is 2.6 mm on the low E string and 1.5 mm on the high e string, measured at the 12th fret.
