F. Martin & Co. has been one of the most important manufacturers of acoustic guitars since 1833 and has had a decisive influence on modern steel-string guitar making. Many of the construction methods and designs that are considered standard today can originally be traced back to developments from Martin. To this day, Martin guitars stand for high-quality materials, precise workmanship and a characteristic sound that inspires musicians worldwide.

With the Martin D-28S 1974, we are offering you an exceptional and now rare vintage Martin. The D-28S is one of the classic 12-fret dreadnought models that Martin only built in comparatively small numbers. Today, these instruments are much rarer on the market than the better-known 14-fret versions.

The design with the neck-body transition at the 12th fret ensures that the bridge sits further in the middle of the top. This creates a particularly voluminous bass range with a very open, sustaining sound. It is precisely this character that makes the Martin D-28S 1974 so interesting for many players. Especially with older instruments like this one, which have been played over decades, a particularly mature and resonant vintage tone develops.

Our Martin D-28S 1974 is in exceptionally good condition for its age. Instruments from this period are rarely seen in such good condition. Of course, there have been slight traces of use over the decades, but overall the guitar is very well maintained and completely original.

The string action is excellently adjusted and is 2.0 mm on the low E-string and 1.6 mm on the high E-string at the 12th fret. This makes the guitar very comfortable and pleasant to play.

Specifications:
Model: Martin D-28S
Year built: 1974
Construction: Dreadnought 12-fret
Top: Solid spruce
Back & sides: East Indian rosewood
Bracing: Non-scalloped X-Bracing, 5/16″
Neck: Mahogany
Neck Profile: Low Profile
Fingerboard: Ebony
Bridge: Ebony, Belly Style
Scale Length: 25.4″ / 645 mm
Nut width: 1 7/8″ / 47.6 mm
Total frets: 20
Tuners: M-6 Chrome with large wings
Case: Original Martin case

Link to Martin Guitars: Martin

More Martin guitars from our store: Martin

Martin D-28S 1974 12-fret dreadnought with East Indian rosewood and solid spruce top.
