The Martin 000-45 12 Fret Custom Shop 1984 is an extremely rare and early Custom Shop model that impresses with its fine woods, masterful workmanship and excellent sound. This guitar is not only an instrumental masterpiece, but also a real collector’s item with a fascinating history. It is the first guitar built in 1984 – and one of the very first Custom Shop 000-45 models. It was originally made in Martin’s Custom Shop for a German customer who did not accept it. The guitar was then purchased by a collector. According to him, this unique piece should otherwise have been exhibited in the Martin Museum, but unfortunately we were unable to find out why – there is an air of mysticism surrounding this instrument.<\/p>\n
The guitar is in almost mint condition. It was hardly ever played by the first owner and was always perfectly maintained. There are only minimal traces of play on the frets. The sound is impressive – clear, full and brilliant – typical of the 000-45 class.<\/p>\n
The playability is also great: the string action is flat and there is still enough bridge inlay. The instrument is in excellent technical and visual condition. The first owner’s invoice and all original documents (original owners card, hang tags, hand-signed letter from C. F. Martin 3) are present. There is also a photo showing the guitar in a music store in 1984. The official order sheet from Martin is also available.<\/p>\n
