Description

For sale is an exceptional Martin 000-45 Custom Shop 12-fret from 1984. This guitar is not only a masterful instrument but also a true collector’s piece with a fascinating history. It is the very first guitar built in 1984 – and one of the very first Custom Shop 000-45 models ever made. Originally crafted in Martin’s Custom Shop for a German customer who ultimately did not take delivery, the guitar was then acquired by a collector. According to him, this unique piece was originally intended to be displayed in the Martin Museum – unfortunately, the reason behind this remains unknown, adding a touch of mystery to this instrument.

The guitar is in near mint condition. It was rarely played by its original owner and has always been meticulously cared for. Only minimal signs of play are visible on the frets. The tone is impressive – clear, full, and brilliant – exactly what you would expect from a 000-45.

Playability is excellent as well: the action is low, and there is still plenty of saddle height available. The instrument is in outstanding technical and cosmetic condition. The original invoice from the first owner is included, along with all original documentation (Original Owner’s Card, hang tags, and a handwritten letter signed by C. F. Martin III). There is also a photo showing the guitar in a music store in 1984, as well as the official Martin order sheet.

The original case is also included and is in mint condition.
