Martin D-28S 12 Fret

C.F. Martin & Co. has stood for pioneering acoustic guitar making since the 19th century and made music history with its early dreadnought models. The Martin D-28S 12 Fret builds on this tradition and is based on the early 12-fret dreadnoughts of the 1930s. The neck-to-body transition at the 12th fret and the slotted headstock not only give this model its characteristic look, but also a unique, particularly full and open sound character.

The Martin D-28S is one of the rare variants within the D-28 family. Models from the 1980s in particular were only produced in very small numbers. Only 7 of the 1985 model year were produced, making this guitar a real rarity for collectors and players.

The Martin D-28S 12 Fret offered here from 1985 is in very good condition. All parts are original, including the original Martin case. There are only a few age-appropriate traces of use, which emphasize the authentic vintage character without affecting the guitar visually or technically.

The string action is set very comfortably and is 2.5 mm at the 12th fret on the low E-string and 2.2 mm on the high E-string. In combination with the wide nut width, the guitar plays pleasantly, confidently and in a very relaxed manner.

The sound of this Martin D-28S 12 Fret is exactly what you would expect from a well-recorded 12-fret dreadnought. Powerful, carrying basses meet an open response and a very balanced overall picture. The combination of rosewood body and the special 12-fret construction gives the sound additional depth, warmth and authority.
