Larrivee L-09

Larrivee has been one of the most renowned manufacturers of high-quality steel-string guitars for decades. The Canadian manufacturer stands for a clear, uncompromising philosophy: precise workmanship, first-class tonewoods and a balanced, musical character without exaggerated effects. Company founder Jean Larrivée began his career in Canada at the end of the 1960s, strongly influenced by classical guitar making and traditional craftsmanship. He combined these influences early on with modern production methods and a high standard of material selection and consistency.

The Larrivee L-09 is a very good example of this consistent line. It combines a solid Sitka spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides. This tried and tested combination of woods ensures a powerful, balanced sound with clear trebles, powerful mids and a clean separation of the individual notes. The ebony fingerboard and bridge underline the high-quality overall impression and contribute to a direct response and precise articulation.

The sound of the Larrivee L-09 is open, dynamic and very balanced. It reacts sensitively to different velocities and is suitable for fingerstyle as well as strumming and precise chord playing. A professionally installed LR Baggs Anthem pickup system also enables a very natural, assertive pickup for stage and studio without distorting the acoustic character of the guitar.

The Larrivee L-09 offered here was built in 2012 and is in very good condition. There are only slight, age-appropriate traces of use. The frets show minimal signs of wear without restricting playability. The string action is comfortably adjusted at 2.2 mm on the low E string and 2.0 mm on the high E string at the 12th fret. Overall, the guitar plays comfortably and balanced across the entire fretboard.
