Martin Custom Shop 000-28 Wild Grain Rosewood

This Martin Custom Shop 000-28 was crafted in 2019 with some particularly beautiful and high-quality custom specifications. Based on the classic 000-28, this model has been significantly enhanced, particularly by the beautiful wild-grain East Indian rosewood, intricate abalone inlays, and other select details.

Selected Sitka spruce was used for the top, while the back and sides are crafted from wild-grain East Indian rosewood. It is precisely this rosewood, with its particularly striking grain, that makes this Custom Shop model visually distinctive and gives each guitar its own unique character.

In terms of tone, the guitar offers the classic character of a very good 000-28, with a powerful low end, beautiful overtones, and excellent balance across all strings. The compact 000 body shape responds very directly and impresses with clear string separation and plenty of dynamic range. This makes the guitar ideal for fingerstyle and picking, while also offering sufficient volume and headroom for more vigorous strumming.

The aesthetic details of this Martin Custom Shop 000-28 are particularly elaborate. The Style 45 rosette is crafted from Select Abalone. The classic “Diamonds and Squares” long-pattern inlays on the ebony fingerboard are also made from Select Abalone in this custom model.

Another highlight is the headstock. It features a wild-grain Indian rosewood inlay, and instead of the usual Martin decal, it has an inlaid C. F. Martin block logo made of select abalone. Golden Schaller GrandTune tuners and the classic bold herringbone finish round out the high-quality yet tasteful design.

With its short scale length of 632 mm, a nut width of 44.5 mm, and the Modified Low Oval neck profile with Performing Artist Taper, the guitar also offers very comfortable and versatile playing dimensions.

The guitar offered here was built in 2019 and is in like-new condition. It has been treated with great care and shows no significant signs of wear. The frets are also in like-new condition.

We carefully set up every guitar. We adjust the neck radius and string action to ensure that the guitar plays cleanly, comfortably, and without buzzing across the entire fretboard.

The string action is 2.7 mm on the low E-string and 2.2 mm on the high E-string, measured at the 12th fret.
